The Christian Mothers’ Society (CMS) at St. Peter parish in Tilden was established in 1915. Traditionally, it was a women's society that provided for needs of the parish such as housekeeping, cooking, social events, etc. Today, CMS is not just a women's society: the entire family is welcome and encouraged to participate in all CMS activities.
Every adult member of St. Peter parish belongs to one of twelve CMS circles. Every circle is named for a saint and is chaired by two of its members. Circle chairs rotate every year. The primary responsibilities of circle chairs are dissemination of information and organizing volunteers.
St. Peter Christian Mother's Society provides parish support in a variety of ways:
CMS Officers work hard to bring the parish members together to accomplish their support goals. There are four CMS officer positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary. CMS officers serve for two years: year one as an apprentice and year two as the boss. Volunteering to serve as a CMS officer is a very rewarding experience. Officers are immersed in the life of the parish and contribute immensely.
Overall, CMS takes great pride in our work and our parish. We are proud of the parish and the community that surrounds it. We would love to have you join us for any or all of our activities. There is a regular snippet in the parish bulletin about the current state of CMS operations and phone numbers for CMS officers. Please give a CMS officer a call to find out what we are doing next and how you can participate!
